Why I Support The Iraq War, And You Should Too!

You gain some incredible insights when living amongst liberals. You get to know how they think. (What little they do) But one thing I have learned is that liberals are not ALL America hating, flag burning, Neo-Hippies. Well, some of them are, and many of them live in this city. But for the large part, many people are not entirely interested in politics. They prefer to live and let live, despite how dire a situation may be.

That is what brings me to my topic. Why I support the Iraq war. As I mentioned, not that many people take an active role in voting or even taking the time to review the facts. This can be dangerous, as those who can afford to live comfortably and peacefully, are able think in idealistic terms. Soldiers on the other hand have bullets flying by their ears, and a fight against an increasing bold, and VICIOUS enemy to worry about. "Can't we all just get along?", has not place in the real world. These idealistic views are the main cause of death to our men and women in uniform. And its all thanks to the people in this country who do not support this war.

That's right. If you do not support this war, YOU are the cause of their deaths. YOU are a TRAITOR. And, I won't just call you names, I'll tell you why.

America has the best military in the world. We have the best of the best. Loyal men and women who are willing to fight to protect their families, their values and freedom for all mankind. A military with the financial backing of the most powerful economy in existence and the inventions of free men and free women who have the liberty to think for themselves. That freedom is the reason why America is the top producer and exporter of everything that has truly changed the world from an industrial age world of kingdoms, to a network of connected democratic nations supported by the people and build for the people.

With this military, Saddam was toppled in days. Why then are we still fighting? Again, it is because of the doubting traitors. The terrorists cannot win against the most powerful military and economic power on earth with honorable battles and gallant heroes. So it resorts to bypassing the power of our military and strikes deep into the soft, ignorant, uncaring people of America. Every time a man has his head sawed off while he is alive and screaming for mercy, it is because YOU have proven to him that by doing this, you will achieve his goal. YOU will call for retreat. YOU will cripple our military. And YOU will do it without knowing you are doing it.

Ignorance is not bliss. Ignorance is deadly. Do you think I like to see our brave soldiers fall in battle? Do you think I enjoy hearing of death and suffering? If you do, seek a psychiatrist immediately. I am not so different from you. I want peace, but the peace I want is secure in the knowledge that people are treating each other right, not oppressing each other. Not just turning our backs on a problem and calling it, "peace".

The next time you think, "We have to get out as soon as possible" remember this. What is the goal of our enemy? For the US to leave Iraq and the middle east entirely. Why? Because the enemy wants to dominate that region, and eventually the world. Don't laugh. I am not making this up. They have expressed their desire to rule the world under Islamic Sharia law. By abandoning the middle east, and saying to them. You can defeat us by breaking every rule in the book. And if we tell them that, where will it end? And will you allow this? Will you betray our troops by taking the enemy's side?

Daniel, I agree with you that a war at the national level calls for the concern of the whole country, not only the men and women in uniform fighting on the battlefield, but also people in the rear. It’s not fair for soldiers to dedicate themselves to the war when others are living comfortably in the homeland and left ignorant about what is actually happening.

However, I respectfully disagree with your assumption that the war in Iraq is a part of the War on Terror and the U.S., with the best military force of the “World Police” and the strong financial backing of the “Superpower”, should be fighting this war.

Until now, there have not been enough (if any) evidences to establish a Iraq-911-terrorism connection. In case you’re disregarding the 911 attack and discussing only about Iraq’s terrorism ideology – its desire to rule the world as stated in Islamic Sharia law, please tell me how you can make a war on terror or any war on tactic. A war is uncontrollable; numerous people of both sides have been losing their lives on and off the battle when the so-called ultimate enemy is still unspecified (tell me where the terrorists are and who American soldiers are really fighting against and massacring down). If you think the sacrifice is necessary to protect the world from being dominated by terrorists, please remember the U.S, regardless of its incomparable military strength, is not the World Police to help out the world’s destiny. Let other countries participate and let the UN do its function, which is solving the world’s conflicts and rolling back the world’s threats. This world is not under our empire, so don’t take action on behalf of the world!

[Hi Daniel, I was doing some blog-surfing and came across your post because of the title "Why I Support the Iraq War, and You Should Too." I just had to see
what your reasoning was. I must give you kudos on one thing, you got my attention, and now you have inspired me to respond to my very first blog article (no b.s.!) Since this is my first response to anyone's blog online, I hope you'd at least post my comments, even if you disagree.]

America is not an empire (U.S. Constitution), and does not have any legitimate right to just do whatever it wants to other sovereign nations in the world
because we have a kick-butt military, a lot of cash, and we don't particularly like them. Second, the United States is not the W.P.D.(World Police Department). And finally, Iraq had absolutely nothing to do with the 9/11 attacks on America. Not one hijacker (terrorist) was an Iraqi.

It's a little scary to me to see how many folks who support the war in Iraq and feel that our military presence there is justified, in part, because America is a superpower. That we Americans know what is right...because we're Americans. Don't get me wrong, I am happy to be born and raised in the U.S., but I'm sad to see the leadership of this country use people's emotions over loss (9/11), personal desire for power and money (oil, govt contracts, etc.), and false and intentionally misleading accusations (laced with fear) to gain just enough approval to use our military to invade another country and carry out the will of the few. Shame on those who initially knew this action was not self-defense, but rather an offensive emperial gesture the world would surely witness. A
few minutes of research into past empires is all that is needed to see the mistakes leading to their downfall, one of which, was imposing their will on other
nations far beyond their borders with little or no justification. Please don't think because the United States is currently a superpower, that if we allow
our country to be led by those who make the exact same mistakes of past great nations (ancient Greece and Rome had some pretty good militaries too) history could not repeat itself on us.

Our military branches serving in Iraq are the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marine Corps. Nowhere in those titles, and nowhere in their training, is there a mention of "Police Dept." Our men and women in uniform are mostly not fighting terrorists, linked to Al-Qaeda, instead, they are trying to conduct "beat-patrols" and quell sectarian and ethnic violence between Iraqis, and, as you say, have "bullets flying by their ears." Civil war and ethnic cross-border conflict, with neighboring Turkey and Iraqi-Kurds, are looming. Absolutely no end is in sight for the ethnic strife within Iraq. Sometimes there are bombings or attacks on Iraqi civilians and/or our military, that noone is sure who is responsible. But it largely gets reported by the Bush administration as Al-Qaeda in Iraq. Andrew Tilghman, a former Iraqi reporter for the military's Stars and Stripes newspaper, wrote an October, 2007 article that appeared in the Washington Monthly titled "The Myth of AQI." In this article, Tilghman spells out the complex turmoil not being reported in Iraq, and cites officials who admit not knowing the sources of some attacks that take place. These are just a few reasons why our military should not be sent to other nations to serve as a police force. Policing Iraq is the major reason we are still in Iraq, not, as you put it, because of "doubting traitors." Hopefully, for the sake of American servicemen and women serving in Iraq, we that OPPOSE this war, can convince our leaders to bring them home, NOW.

Finally, man, I want you to know that I despise those that were involved in murdering so many innocent Americans on 9/11/2001. It is they who most Americans
thought we were after when George Bush led the battle cry into Iraq. I personally wanted to stomp somebody's ASS for what happened that day. Being a former
Marine of 8 years, I couldn't watch television without trying to break Saddam's or Bin Laden's nose everytime I saw their mugs on my TV. For me, however, I felt 8 years served as a Marine was enough for my country. Instead, I've decided to become a critical citizen, like yourself. I am far from a traitor, my friend, and far from accepting that Saddam Hussein, or the nation of Iraq, had anything to do with the 9/11 attacks on America. Frank Davies, a writer for the Oakland Tribune (in your neck of the woods, eh?), wrote a great article that was published on page 1 this past September 11th, 2007, titled "Saddam - Sept 11 Myth Persists in American Minds." A great article that demonstrates how these early deceitful connections were presented to the public by an administration with dark intentions.

Until the next time...

Daniel, I enjoyed reading your opinion on the Iraq War, however, I wanted to point out that your assuming that America is the World Police alone, and not the UN. Your assuming that because of this "higher authority" that we can overstep the opinions and concerns of the UN and invade anyone we chose.
